The Princess - Triptych Windows Series

THE PIN: Though Leia's colors connect her to her twin, her window's emphasis is not on her Skywalker lineage, but her identity as an Organa, the Princess of Alderaan. The white cinquefoil blossom (or potentilla) can mean either "beloved daughter" or "maternal affection", both of which we see embodied in Leia. What's more, in medieval heraldry, the cinquefoil's five petals often denoted nobility.

Pictured at the top of her window, the Death Star fires its cataclysmic blast upon the mountains of her home world. But from the shape of the explosion - from loss and tyranny and destruction - is born a symbol of hope and courage: the symbol of the Rebel Alliance. Rising behind the Death Star, though still momentarily eclipsed by it, is another symbol of hope: the dawning sun pictured on the Medal of Bravery (also known as the Medal of Alderaan) that Leia presents to Luke and Han at the end of A New Hope...the beginning of the fall of the Empire.

THE SERIES: A triptych is a piece of art that is divided into three, fairly common among old stained glass installations. The goal with this series is to create enough pins of beloved SW characters for people to build their own triptych in a custom frame resembling a stone wall we hope to eventually fund. For now, these 5" pin-on-pins will have the character opaque in the foreground while the window behind will have stained glass effects.
