The Duchess - Triptych Windows Series

THE PIN: Satine is our only window to-date that features a character without their weapon in hand. But this isn't simply because Satine considers herself a pacifist; we saw her willing to defend herself on more than one occasion in The Clone Wars. Rather, the folding of her hands is a deliberate commitment to peace, and not peace as just an opposite to war...but peace as it carries the potential for learning, and exploration. With that in mind, the background of Satine's window - which features the oranges and golds of the throne of Mandalore - resembles both a library and the lines of a compass, a map of the galaxy she wished to spread peace to. The star doubles as the morning star from the symbol of the Jedi Order that Obi-wan wears on his pauldron. At the top of the frame, the beskar heart frames the darksaber, as it was common in old religious imagery for martyrs to be portrayed with the weapon of their death. But here the darksaber - both a symbol of the leadership of Mandalore and Satine's murder - is entwined with mistletoe, as in ancient times, it was said that druids would hang mistletoe in meeting places where no violence could enter.

THE SERIES: A triptych is a piece of art that is divided into three, fairly common among old stained glass installations. The goal with this series is to create enough pins of beloved SW characters for people to build their own triptych in a custom frame resembling a stone wall we hope to eventually fund. For now, these 5" pin-on-pins will have the character opaque in the foreground while the window behind will have stained glass effects.
