The Father - Triptych Windows Series
The Father - Triptych Windows Series
THE PIN: The theme of Din Djarin's first variant pin is family...blood family, and found family. First, the red banner features the lattice detailing from his parents' red robes. The asymmetrical shapes running down the sides of the window create the actual shape of the crack in the closing doors of the hiding place where his parents put him to save his life during the attack on their village. In the episode (S1, ep8), sunlight breaks briefly around his parents as they hug him goodbye. But that same light breaks around the Mandalorian who eventually opens the doors to pull Din to safety. The closing on one life, the opening on another. In a way, the seeing stone pictured at the top of the window is Grogu's version of that hiding place - the place where Din puts him, even though it's painful, to try to secure Grogu a future. The flower we choose for this window, the eucalyptus, symbolizes protection.
In the golden emblem, the mythosaur necklace stands back-to-back with the Mudhorn symbol, with the old Mando'a proverb running around them: "Family is more than bloodline."
THE SERIES: A triptych is a piece of art that is divided into three, fairly common among old stained glass installations. The goal with this series is to create enough pins of beloved SW characters for people to build their own triptych in a custom frame resembling a stone wall we hope to fund. These 5" pin-on-pins will have the character opaque in the foreground while the window behind will mainly be transparent/stained glass, expect for smaller areas.
