The Abandoned - Triptych Windows - In Hand

THE PIN: In designing Maul's window, we decided to focus on just one part of his journey, rather than all its various paths: his relationship to Obi-wan Kenobi, which runs parallel to nearly everything else. Lining the sides of the frame are the platforms where the two had their first fateful duel in Episode I, while at the top we have represented the Sith holocron that ultimately leads Maul to find Obi-wan at the end of his journey. Meanwhile, the central design of the window harkens to the stained-glass throne of Mandalore, but we've taken some liberties with the design to include blossoms of the bird's-foot trefoil plant...a symbol of revenge. That said, while Maul blames Obi-wan for robbing him of his destiny, Maul - whose window title is "The Abandoned" - also blames the Sith. In his final moments, when he believes Obi-wan has found the Chosen One, his words are: "He will avenge us." The two are haloed in this moment by the twin suns of Tatooine.

THE SERIES: A triptych is a piece of art that is divided into three, common among old stained glass installations. The goal with this series is to create enough pins of beloved SW characters for people to build their own triptych in a custom frame resembling a stone wall we hope to fund - but that's a ways down the road. For now, suffice to say, these 5" pin-on-pins will have the character opaque in the foreground while the window behind will have transparent/stained glass effects.
