The Returned - Triptych Windows Series
THE PIN: For this special edition Ahsoka, we wanted to draw on some of the same inspiration Dave Filoni has: that of the stories and mythos of J.R.R. Tolkien. Ahsoka's appearance at the end of Rebels is often likened to Gandalf the White's return after what was in fact his death...the death of Gandalf the Grey. Similarly, Ahsoka, through no power of her own, was returned to the present to finish her appointed task. The mountain at the top of her window was drawn as a stylistic nod to Tolkien's art, but it's shaped after the Sith temple on Malachor. In its side yawns the triangular doorway through which Ahsoka makes her journey. Dawn, a symbol of hope, breaks over the place that once meant death. For The Returned, we chose the daisy, representing purity, rebirth, and new beginnings. The name "daisy" comes from the Old English for "day's eye", owing to the way that the flowers open their petals at dawn, turning their heads to follow the light.
