The Matriarch - Triptych Windows Series

THE PIN: Like the Son of Suns, the Matriarch is another pin in our limited series of gold-plated ‘spiritual portrait’ windows, which envision speculative and symbolic aspects of a character’s story rather than the way that character might have appeared at any point in the saga.

In this pin, a vision of Padme floats in the foreground as an embodiment of her dying wish. Her husband has fallen, his broken body a symbol of what’s become of the Skywalker family: the father encased in darkness, the mother fading away from grief, the son and daughter soon to be hidden from each other at opposite corners of the galaxy. Though it would seem all is lost, Padme holds on to hope, clasping the japor snippet over Anakin’s son and daughter, still safe in her womb.

Above her is the vision of this hope. Her Star of Bethlehem flowers (symbolizing purity and innocence) balance Anakin/Vader’s black rose of death and despair while mother, son, and daughter unite in a ring of redeeming love around the ruined form of Anakin…a father who, despite all appearances, is still haloed with the promise that he is the Chosen One and will not be finally lost to the Dark.

THE SERIES: A triptych is a piece of art that is divided into three, fairly common among old stained glass installations. The goal with this series is to create enough pins of beloved SW characters for people to build their own triptych in a custom frame resembling a stone wall we hope to fund. These 5" pin-on-pins will have the character opaque in the foreground while the window behind will mainly be transparent/stained glass, expect for smaller areas.
